Gintaras Gesevičius

I was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. I studied at the Kaunas School of Art and graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 1976, I have actively participated in professional art exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. I have been a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association since 1980, serving as Chair of the Graphic Artists’ Section, and since 2020, I have been a member of its Council.
Throughout my artistic career, I have held more than one hundred solo exhibitions in Lithuania and internationally. I have also represented Lithuanian culture in dozens of international exhibitions and received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the Baltic States Biennial. My works are included in the collections of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, as well as in galleries and private collections in Lithuania and abroad.
I paint not what I see, but what I imagine and feel. Through my paintings, I seek to create landscapes rich in fantastical symbols and metaphors, infused with a sense of philosophical intuitions. My works are characterised by bright colours, expressiveness and an optimistic form of neo-romanticism. Above all, I hope my paintings encourage viewers to discover goodness, hope and light within themselves.
