The goddess Laima is the Lithuanian deity of fate, birth, and good fortune. She was also associated with childbirth and marriage and served as the guardian of the home and livestock. Laima’s special role was the protection of women in labor and newborns. She allows a person to come into this world and ensures a successful birth.
